Only one golf course in the Contra Costa, Marin, and Yolo counties area has ever earned a coveted four-and-a-half out of five-star rating from Golf Digest and it doesn’t have a Napa address. It’s Solano County’s Hiddenbrooke Golf Club.

The par-72, 18-hole course is just a short drive away from Paradise Valley Estates in Vallejo. It’s a small price to pay to be able to enjoy some of the nation’s best golf designed by one of the world’s golfing legends. Hiddenbrooke — designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay — has been recognized as one of the top 10 Best Public Golf Courses in the Nation by Golf World Readers’ Choice Awards.

Opened in 1995, the always-challenging course extends 6,782 yards with dramatic elevation changes, perilous bunkers, and water hazards on 14 out of 18 holes to test course management skills. The practice facilities also feature a 25-tee driving range, chipping area and varied putting green.

The course is available to the public seven days a week and offers a range of membership options. Currently, the course is open year-round, from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Book a tee time online or call 707-558-0330.

Visit Hiddenbrooke Golf Course for details. The course is located at 1095 Hiddenbrooke Parkway in Vallejo, CA (94591).
