PVE Playwrights Featured in PlayDemic Festival

Congratulations to Liz Wildberger and Pat Williams who wrote and submitted a short play to Lucky Penny Productions in Napa. Their work “Fitness in the Time of COVID-19” was selected as one of 10 short plays to be included in PlayDemic, a pandemic-themed production staged virtually by the theatre in March.

Bay Area authors were challenged to center ideas around how the pandemic affected life, how life carried on in spite of it, or what they expected to happen post-pandemic. Submissions had to be tied to the pandemic or a personal experience during the pandemic and require minimal characters with no physical contact.

The short developed by Pat and Liz featured a fitness instructor. The fitness instructor was attempting to lead a socially-distanced group of senior ladies who needed help managing the safety protocols.

PlayDemic was presented online and on-demand the weekend of March 5-7. Viewers were invited to pay what they could to help the theatre which closed during its 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the closure, the theatre created a podcast and discussed the PlayDemic production in Episode 21.

The theatre has not yet resumed live performances but is exploring how to safely over the summer.
