Life Here

Our First Week at Paradise Valley Estates

Neighborly, friendly, welcoming — all words that describe our first week at Paradise Valley Estates! When you smile and say hello around here, the greeting is returned in spades.

Our move to Fairfield from Napa came off with nary a hitch. Chipman Relocations came at 8:00 a.m. as agreed and went about packing the kitchen while loading their trucks. We were off to our new abode at 2:00 p.m.

We arrived at 3:00 p.m. to be greeted by a huge/beautiful poinsettia from Linda Johnson and a bottle of Mumm Napa Brut Prestige along with a huge/delicious deli tray from David and his team that could have easily fed a dozen or more. Shortly thereafter Diedre and Donald Terleski sent over a cold bottle of Roederer Estate Brut. What a welcoming first meal! We spent the night in the very comfortable 1000B guest room.

The movers arrived at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday as requested to unload and were finished by 11:00 a.m. with virtually everything placed where we wanted. They really bent over backwards to make certain we were satisfied and, best of all, the final bill was exactly as estimated.

On Thursday, Sharon met Vivian Stewart, our duplex roof mate. Loretta Epperson from across the street came over to say hello and later brought us some fresh homemade brownies. She and her husband, Bob, invited us to join them for dinner that evening but we’d just finished a late lunch so instead we agreed to join them for brunch on Sunday. Ruth Wolfe came to our door bearing a Danish Kringle coffee cake (absolutely delicious) to sweeten our unpacking chores.  Sharon went to the Pulse class where Jessica Talamantez volunteered to give her a campus tour.

By late Friday afternoon quite a bit of the unpacking was completed and the Christmas decorations up. After work Linda Johnson stopped by to check on our progress and share a glass of wine. On Sunday long-time residents and friends, Pat Williams and Liz Wildberger, came by with a beautiful bottle of wine to reward mission accomplished.

We celebrated our first week anniversary with a toast to all the genuinely warm and friendly residents and staff who have made us feel so very welcome. Thank you!
