Kicking Off 20 Years at PVE

The scene opens with soft dinner music and elegant table settings and finishes a delectable gourmet meal and wonderful conversation. The special guests? Residents of Paradise Valley Estates who have lived in the Life Plan Community since it was founded in 1997.

This memorable dinner, held in March 2017, was the first in a series of events that will honor the 20th anniversary of the founding of Paradise Valley Estates. The anniversary dinner, planned by a committee of residents, included current residents who chose to make their home in PVE from 1997 through 2000. As many joyfully recalled, it was back when the front gates were railroad-crossing gates and the Laurel Creek Health Center wasn’t even finished!

The dinner was the first activity in a year of what promises to showcase all that has happened in our community’s 20 years as, first, a CCRC, and now as a Life Plan Community. As part of the planning, residents wanted to be able to reminiscence and converse easily as friends and neighbors at tables of six diners. The laughs came easily as we remembered the tumbleweeds, the tiny model and the dead-end road.

It’s hard to believe our beautiful community had such humble beginnings. Who could have imagined that a doublewide sales trailer in a weed-choked field could bloom so beautifully? Many of us could see it even back then. That’s why we chose to make PVE our home!
