The Electric Trams Are Here
Paradise Valley Estates has purchased three trams in anticipation of the increased need for transportation with the opening of The Ridge. The trams are electric and have a driver. They have air conditioning, heaters, and fans to help circulate air.
The trams have five seats with doors on both sides of the vehicle to enter seats. The driver sits up front and will be able to assist those who need help getting into or out of the tram. Each seat can comfortably seat two residents. Melody Roberts, the Logistics Supervisor said, “Three in a seat would be cozy.” Therefore, the tram seats eight comfortably or 12 in “cozy” mode. The rear seat area will also be used for storage of walkers thus reducing the number of residents that can be carried.
The trams will replace the dinner bus and stop at designated locations all across campus. When the Oak Room and Creekside Café open, two trams will run to handle the dinner crowd.
A shuttle service is running from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to move residents to and from the new 6000 area. PVE is measuring the use of the trams to make sure they are handling the traffic as needed, and hours of service will be adjusted if needed.
