It was by special invitation that I was asked to join our PVE cyclists earlier this month for the inaugural outing of the PVE Pedalers. Having just received a new bike as a recent Mother’s Day present, I was eager to accept the invite and try out my wheels.
Our leader Dan Doughtery was prepared to lead the group in our 6.5 mile trek.. I’m certain he’s had experience riding in the Tour De France.
Don is more than an expert cyclist. He was in the first platoon to liberate Auschwitz in World War II. And now he’s here with us organizing our bicycle group!
We enjoyed a scenic mostly flat ride. Thank goodness, as this was also my first day in the PVE employee commuter bicycle program.
Our next event is planned for Friday July 8 leaving from the Powerhouse at 9:00am. We hope even more residents will dust off their bikes and air up their tires for our next ride. Cycling is a great way to keep fit, especially when you can get a fun workout with your friends.
See you next month!
