PVE Named 2020 Best in Wellness Award Winner
Paradise Valley Estates was honored in January with a joint award from the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA) and NuStep, LLC. Each year, the partnership honors 25 North American senior living communities for their “Best in Wellness” achievements by naming them 2020 ICAA NuStep Beacon Award winners.
As a 2020 “Best in Wellness” ICAA NuStep Beacon Award winner, Northern California’s Paradise Valley Estates Life Plan Community is recognized for:
- providing a culture of wellness that permeates community life and supports residents and staff in engaging as fully as possible in all of life’s dimensions.
- fostering a wellness culture and an environment that supports wellness for all who live and work there.
PVE was the only recipient from California to earn the distinction in 2020.
Despite a global pandemic that encouraged social distancing for maximum safety, PVE successfully evolved wellness service delivery to maintain focus on the seven dimensions of wellness — emotional, physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, vocational and environmental — and created meaningful opportunities to empower participants to improve their quality of life.
Kevin Burke, CEO, is proud of the community’s efforts to prioritize whole-health wellness despite the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 virus. “Our efforts to transition wellness services in response to the global pandemic were always about more than simply keeping people safe,” he said. “Good health is interdependent, and it has many facets that affect someone’s health and wellbeing. To have our community’s efforts designated as one of the nation’s best is a tremendous honor.”
At Paradise Valley Estates, it’s easy to make wellness part of everyday activities. Residents enjoy the community’s wellness center, group fitness classes, Powerhouse gym as well as recreational fun such as bocce, golf, pickleball and hiking at nearby Mount Diablo.
