Countdown to The Ridge Highlights Programs to Welcome New Residents
In April, the Countdown to Move-In Series profiled two programs designed to welcome new residents to Paradise Valley Estates. These programs, which are resident-led, help new residents learn about services at the Life Plan Community, meet neighbors and have a knowledgeable, familiar face who can help with questions and offer guidance.
Betty Rawlinson, chair of the Marketing Committee, explained how the Move-In Mentor program is rooted in the military tradition of welcoming those who come after you to a new location. Before move-in, each new resident is matched with a buddy based on life details and interests. Mentors contact new residents to welcome them one on one and so they can spend time getting to know each other and talking about community life.
Each new resident receives a tote full of goodies from a resident handbook to free maintenance coupons. Mentors introduce new residents to PVE Pulse, the community’s digital platform, and explain basics like making meal reservations and signing up for classes. They also share how to access mail and notary services, where to find local pharmacies and grocery stores, and more. Mentors also provide new residents with a campus tour, join them for dinner, and help them connect with others for getting-to-know-you meals, too.
The Welcome Home Committee is hosting a slate of orientation presentations and activities both for residents moving in now and those moving to The Ridge, the community’s new neighborhood, in July. Anne Ruth detailed the initiative for future residents, which planners began working on several years ago. The committee is planning to host guided bus tours, social events and offer one-on-one help with community-level technology platforms.
One of the committee’s first efforts was to create a series of introductory videos. The recordings introduce viewers to service departments at Paradise Valley Estates such as dining, security, the reception desk and the health clinic. Viewers can learn about the services each provides, meet team members, and how to access various services.
As Patti shares in the video, it’s an especially exciting time to welcome so many new faces to our 76-acre community. Residents are often thrilled to finally experience the comforts of all-inclusive living and to learn that the opening of The Ridge is but one element of our community’s ongoing master plan.
