Community Center Improvements

Looking for silver linings has become a new hobby for many Americans as the coronavirus pandemic extends its grip on our lives and nation. At Paradise Valley Estates, we capitalized on the decreased foot traffic and moved up a planned refresh of the hub of our Life Plan Community: the Community Center.

The 36,000-square-foot Community Center, built in 1997, is an everyday destination for many residents of our 68-acre master planned community. There they can access the Café and Main Dining Room, The Club, our on-campus Military Museum, mailroom, the Salon and other community spaces such as an arts and crafts room, and the Rawlinson Hall meeting room. While the Community Center has been updated since its opening, it was difficult to make improvements without disrupting service to residents — until California’s shelter in place order was put into effect.

With foot traffic at an all-time low, we moved fast to begin the widespread improvements expected to take six months. Today, the Community Center has modern recessed lighting and fresh paint throughout including in the Salon and card room. A new chandelier graces the grand entrance and new pergola-style covering over the patio makes dining outdoors more comfortable than ever. Celebrating our military heritage, decorative metal seals from each of the military service branches welcome visitors to the Community Center. New bottleless water systems allow for dispensing of cold drinking water or water bottle filling. Later this fall, along with the tile and carpet installation, will come new furniture and artwork. The covered patio will also have four heaters, three fans, and LED lights enabling residents to enjoy the patio any time of day and all year long.

The paint colors, carpet and flooring — selected by community residents — work together to create a modern, welcoming environment. When the work is finally complete in the fall, we’ll be thrilled to have this silver lining complete and ready for our community residents.
