“They dined on mince

And slices of quince

Which they ate with a runcible spoon”

From “The Owl and the Pussy Cat” – by E. Lear

It’s been more than a decade since I moved my home and relocated my life to Paradise Valley Estates. In all that time I must admit I’ve never seen sliced quince on the menu and the nearest thing to mince — cooked ground beef — is probably meat sauce and spaghetti.

We don’t lack for variety, however, in our “gustatorial selections.”

Steak, salmon, lamb chops and chicken are available every day for lunch and dinner. I’ve eaten quail, duck confit and escalope of veal. I’ve been offered sea bass, osso bucco, snails, oysters and king crab legs. It’s usually surf and turf on Valentine’s Day — tenderloin and lobster tail. We enjoyed mahi-mahi at a recent luau. We have such fantastic options available, sometimes we might hear, with a sigh “Prime rib and asparagus again!”

Seriously though, the bounty makes me appreciate how fortunate we are in comparison to others around the world. At PVE you need never cook another meal. There are people behind the scenes ready to serve a fine meal cooked to order just for you. All you have to do is eat it!
