“Spitting? Spitting you say? Oh, spitting for a cause. What cause? Ah, to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association!! That’s good, but what do we spit and how? Like a projectile. . . .a watermelon seed?”
That’s how the contest at Paradise Valley Estates was started last year. This fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association is one of several events scheduled in advance of the annual Alzheimer’s Walk on Saturday, October 24.
The second annual contest gave 35 fun loving spitters, including nine employees and seven donations without competing. For the second year is a row, Maintenance Tech, Rada Rama, was our champion, spitting his seed 26 feet! He wasn’t the only winner. Nine top placings received prizes, but Rada received the big trophy. Nearly $650 was raised for the cause, with much levity in the process. Next year should be even bigger and better!
