Doug Ochandarena

Ochandarena BioHow did you decide to start anew in
Paradise Valley Estates?

“My wife and I were in Texas when we began to look at CCRCs. We even stayed at Paradise Valley Estates years ago but decided it was too early,” said Doug. “After she became ill and passed away, I was in Texas alone and not taking good care of myself. My kids and I wanted to be closer. In fact, they came and took the tour again with me. Years later it was still a great fit!”How has life changed?

“It’s been so rewarding,” he said. “The unit I live in is top notch with granite counters. The community and people are charming and friendly. There are many fun events and activities you can easily participate in. I actually go for days without getting in the car. It’s also helped me put fitness back into my regular routine. I swim and work out in the gym all the time.”

What’s one of your favorite local sights?

“We’re really close to two local municipal golf courses,” he said. “One is literally just outside the gate and the other is only two miles away. They are the best-looking muni’s I’ve ever seen. The holes are among the most beautiful and scenic I’ve played and the greens fees are very reasonable. I’d play golf every day if I could.”

Doug embraced the difference that comes from living full, active days in a community that will be there for him as his needs change. To learn more about the value a continuing care retirement community can bring to your retirement, contact us to schedule a visit or request more information.
