Guests were met at the door with plenty of festive beads, given out by the Resident Council Greeters at the Paradise Valley Estates Mardi Gras celebration, held February 17th in Rawlinson Hall. “The Earles of Newtown”, a seven piece Dixieland Band, played great dance music with a good beat. Everyone got into the spirit of the evening, with fun costumes, especially hats and masks.
The decor added to that New Orleans feel with wall banners, signage, and table decor. Masks for all completed the festive atmosphere. There was a no host full bar and complimentary punch and snacks.
Life Enrichment Manager, Denise Flowerday, dressed in green tights and a black outfit was dancing up a storm, even with a broken foot in a booty and using a cane! Even the servers came onto the dance floor at times.
The last song played was the traditional “When the Saints Go Marching In” and a spontaneous conga line snaked about Rawlinson Hall. It was a lot of fun so if you missed it, too bad! Be sure to watch for it next year!
