What would you want most at Oktoberfest? It was all there on Tuesday, September 29 in Fairfield, California: Perfect weather, lively music Bavarian-style, lots of delicious food, and unlimited supply of German beer, wine and iced beverages.Oktoberfest 2015 on the lawn near the Pavilion at Paradise Valley Estates (PVE) was quite a festive scene. As we approached the area, we saw three large tents shading flower-topped round tables for 8. The Golden State Accordion Club, in Bavarian-costume, played lively tunes which some could not resist. Dancers whirled across the grass in time to the music. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day. Warm enough to wear your lederhosen, if you had any.
Our PVE Marketing team of five ladies with beribboned flower wreaths in their hair, greeted guests who are interested in moving to a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and paired them with our residents who are doing what they do all the time, enjoying retired life.
Long buffet tables set end to end were heaped with large pretzels & flat bread, bowls of German potato salad, bologna pasta salad, apple & leek salad, pickled herring, cheese display, chive horseradish potato pancakes, grilled brats and knockwurst, braised cabbage, veal schnitzel with brown sage butter, herb spaetzle, And for those who saved space for dessert, apple streusel tart.
It was a delightful luncheon party enjoyed by the fortunate ones who were there.
